About Us
Get Set Kids was started by Ally Mendelsohn and Emma Ord, two mums from Newton Aycliffe, Co Durham who have been friends since their eldest boys started pre-school together over 5 years ago.
Ally has two boys aged 7 and 2 and Emma has two boys 7 and 5 and a 2 year old girl. Ally's background is as a medical secretary in the NHS and Emma did her degree in teaching but since having the children has been a full time mum.
We decided to start the magazine over a coffee and cake shortly after having our two youngest children to provide a real community read and we saw it as being an extension of the school gates chat amongst parents which many now miss out on because of work commitments etc.
We try to bring features to the magazine that we'd be interested in ourselves as parents with young families and also include many of the places we visit regularly with our kids and would like to recommend.
